The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has suspended Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa over allegations of homosexuality, marking a rare disciplinary move by the church.
This development was disclosed in a letter dated October 28, 2024, signed by the RCCG National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, and addressed to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration.
The letter emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, citing RCCG’s strict adherence to biblical teachings. “By our mission’s commitment to upholding the teachings of the Bible, we must address these allegations with the utmost seriousness they deserve,” the National Overseer stated. “As you are aware, the doctrine of the Redeemed Christian Church of God does not allow or tolerate any act of homosexuality.”
Pending the investigation’s outcome, both Pastor AdeBello, Deacon Mayowa, and other accused persons will be temporarily relieved of all duties within RCCG’s various mission branches. The investigation is expected to be completed within two weeks.
The church stressed that the probe will be conducted with confidentiality, integrity, and respect for all parties involved, highlighting the importance of handling the matter with care and discretion.
