Queen Camilla reportedly told a friend that Meghan Markle had “brainwashed” Prince Harry during the height of tensions within the British royal family, according to claims in a new book by royal author Tom Bower.
The claim appears in the book which explores the growing rift between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and other members of the royal family. According to the account, the remark was made as relations between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the rest of the royal family deteriorated after their wedding in 2018.
The book also describes a tense confrontation between Prince Harry and his brother Prince William soon after Harry and Meghan returned from their honeymoon. During the disagreement, Meghan reportedly clashed with William as tensions within the family escalated.
According to the author, Prince William had earlier warned Harry that his relationship with Meghan was moving too quickly, a concern that was also reportedly shared by Catherine, Princess of Wales. Some members of the royal family were said to believe Harry had become strongly influenced by Meghan.
The tensions within the royal family eventually contributed to the couple’s decision to step back from their roles as senior working royals in 2020 and relocate to the United States.
Since leaving their royal duties, Harry and Meghan have spoken publicly about their disagreements with the monarchy through interviews, documentaries and other media projects, further highlighting the strained relationship between them and other members of the royal family.
