A self-proclaimed prophet has come under heavy criticism after his widely publicized prophecy about Barcelona winning the 2025 UEFA Champions League failed to materialize. The clergyman, who had confidently told his congregation about a divine vision showing Barcelona defeating Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the final, was left embarrassed after Inter Milan eliminated the Catalan club in the semi-finals.

In his earlier declaration, the prophet claimed to have seen Barcelona lifting the trophy in a dramatic comeback against PSG. His prediction gained traction among believers and football fans, with many sharing his words on social media. However, Inter Milan’s dominant performance over two legs, culminating in a 7-4 aggregate victory, exposed the prophecy as false.

The backlash has been swift, with Nigerians online mocking the prophet and demanding accountability. Critics have accused him of misleading his followers and using religion to gain attention. Some have called for caution when accepting such predictions, while others have dismissed the incident as another example of failed prophecies in the public space.

As Inter Milan prepares to face either PSG or Arsenal in the final, the prophet’s credibility remains in question, sparking debates about the role of spiritual declarations in sports and entertainment.
