Former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, has pledged his assistance to the Nigerian government in its ongoing legal dispute with Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Limited, a Chinese company responsible for the seizure of three presidential jets in France. The conflict stems from a contract signed during Daniel’s tenure in 2007.
In a statement issued by his media office, Daniel underscored the national importance of the case, stating, “This is a very sensitive matter involving our collective national assets and Commonwealth, which every patriotic Nigerian should feel concerned about.”
He further highlighted his commitment to aiding Nigeria in finding a resolution, saying, “As a patriotic elder statesman who has had the privilege of serving Ogun State as the Governor, it is this patriotic path I choose to tread.”
Daniel also expressed his willingness to support the federal government in the legal proceedings. “I would rather engage in helping Nigeria, through the President and Commander-in-Chief, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to find a diplomatic solution to the issue at hand with available records that could assist the Federal Government in pursuing its course at the arbitration and before the courts,” he added.
