President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Nigeria on Monday evening following a three-week working visit to France and the United Kingdom. The presidential jet touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at approximately 9:55 pm.

Senior government officials including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, SGF George Akume, NSA Nuhu Ribadu, and Budget Minister Atiku Bagudu welcomed the president upon his arrival. The return follows initial plans for a two-week trip that was extended through the Easter period.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had earlier confirmed the president used the European visit to conduct a midterm review of his administration’s performance and assess ongoing reforms. The working retreat allowed for strategic planning ahead of the government’s second anniversary in office.

The extended stay abroad had drawn criticism from opposition figures questioning presidential oversight during Nigeria’s security challenges. The Presidency responded by affirming Tinubu remained fully engaged in governance matters throughout the visit, with all official functions continuing uninterrupted.

This marks President Tinubu’s first major international trip since assuming office in 2023. The administration maintains the working visit achieved its objectives of evaluating reform progress and refining development priorities for the coming year.
