The Nigerian Presidency has denied allegations of a strained relationship between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, dismissing them as baseless and misleading. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, described the rumors as “a lie from the pit of hell.”
Nkwocha, in a tribute marking Senator Shettima’s 58th birthday, emphasized that no vice president in Nigeria’s history has enjoyed as much trust and support from their principal as Shettima does from Tinubu. The statement aimed to dispel claims that the vice president had been marginalized in the government.
Nkwocha praised Shettima’s leadership and loyalty, stating, “His unwavering support and teamwork demonstrate a refreshing shift towards harmonious collaboration, setting a positive tone for their administration.” He further described the Vice President as a key player in shaping economic policies and promoting social justice and inclusivity.
The presidency maintains that the alleged rift is a fabricated story, and there is no truth to the claims of any friction between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.
