
Chief (Mrs) Khadijah Adebisi Edionseri, a renowned socialite and businesswoman popularly known as “Cash Madam,” has passed away at the age of 89. She died on Sunday, January 5, 2025, following a brief illness.
Announcing her passing, one of her children, Dr. Adebayo Adebowale, expressed the family’s gratitude to Allah for her extraordinary life.
“With deep gratitude to Allah for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Princess Kadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri (née Elegbede), who returned to her creator on 5th January 2025 at the age of 89, following a brief illness,” Adebowale stated.
He described her as a beacon of grace and faith, noting her immense impact on her family and community. “Her life was a shining example of grace, dignity, and unwavering faith. Princess Edionseri touched the lives of many through her wisdom, kindness, and dedication to both her family and her community. She taught us the importance of love, resilience, and faith in Allah, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.”
Her funeral will be held according to Islamic rites on Monday, January 6, 2025, at her residence in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Known for her philanthropy, business acumen, and commitment to the socio-economic development of Egbaland and Ogun State, Edionseri was a prominent figure whose influence resonated far beyond her immediate environment.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State expressed deep sorrow over her passing, describing her death as a significant loss to the state and the nation.
“Her legacy as a successful entrepreneur and social figure has left an indelible mark, resonating across generations since the 1970s,” Governor Abiodun said in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran.
He praised Edionseri’s contributions to Ogun State, highlighting her resilience and ambition as a role model for many. “Her influence extended far and wide, making her a cherished figure in the hearts of many. As the state mourns the loss of such a formidable personality, the legacy of Chief (Mrs) Adebisi Edionseri will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations of entrepreneurs and social leaders.”
Her passing marks the end of an era, but her life’s work and values remain a source of inspiration for many in Ogun State and beyond.
