The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) claimed that the fainting episodes of several minors during their arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja were staged to draw negative attention.
According to the police, the minors, aged 12-15, who participated in the August 2024 End Bad Governance protest, face charges including terrorism and treason.
In a statement signed by ACP Olumiyowa Adejobi for the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the NPF stated, “An unexpected incident in court saw six of the suspects suddenly rush out and faint, drawing media attention in a deliberate and scripted manner.”
The police added that they provided immediate medical assistance and maintained that the welfare of those in custody remains a priority.
The police stressed their commitment to handling the case professionally, urging the public to view it without bias.
