Authorities in Nashville have launched an investigation into a tragic school shooting at Antioch High School, where 17-year-old Solomon Henderson opened fire inside the cafeteria, killing 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante before taking his own life.

The Metro Nashville Police Department is working to determine the motive behind the attack, examining alleged online writings and social media posts made by Henderson. These materials reportedly contain detailed plans of the shooting, explanations for his actions, and references to other attacks.

In addition to the fatality, a 17-year-old male student suffered a graze wound to the arm and was treated and discharged, while another male student sustained a facial injury, though he was not shot.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit are investigating whether the victims were specifically targeted or struck by random gunfire.

Metro Nashville Police described Henderson’s online activity as “very concerning” and are analyzing his digital footprint for further insights into his motive.

The shooting, which sent students scrambling for cover, was reportedly partially live-streamed on the Australian streaming platform Kick. In response, the platform issued a statement condemning the attack, confirming that the account and video were “rapidly banned.”

“Violence has no place on Kick. We are actively working with law enforcement and taking all appropriate steps to support their investigation,” the company stated.

According to CNN, this is the first recorded school shooting in the United States in 2025. In 2024, the country experienced 83 school shootings—the highest number ever recorded in a single year.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack, urging the public to report any relevant information that could aid the case.
