The Oyo State Police Command in Nigeria has refuted social media claims that Chief Sunday Igboho issued an ultimatum for herders to leave the South West.

In a statement by command spokesman Adewale Osifeso, the police dismissed the voice note circulating on social media as false.

The command labeled the reports as “misleading and complete falsehood,” emphasizing that there is no evidence to suggest that separatist group members evicted herders in Igboho, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The police highlighted that the viral video circulating since July 16, 2024, was crafted by “agents of mischief” to incite violence and disrupt the state’s peace.

“No notice of eviction was pronounced by any individual or group on anyone at any period in time,” the statement affirmed.

In response, the Commissioner of Police has ordered increased patrols and heightened police visibility in the area, deploying additional operational, intelligence, and tactical assets to maintain peace and prevent any disturbances.
