The Ogun State Police Command has declared popular singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, wanted for allegedly leading a violent attack on government officials performing their lawful duties.
In a statement released on Monday, February 17, 2025, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, detailed that the incident occurred on February 5, 2025, when three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development’s Ota Zonal Office were enforcing regulations in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.
According to Odutola, the officials—identified as TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—encountered Portable’s father at a bar in the area while requesting an approved building plan. Shortly after, the singer allegedly arrived with a group of nine armed men and launched an attack on the unarmed officials, causing them bodily harm before they managed to escape.
The matter was reported to the Ota Area Command and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. While nine of Portable’s alleged accomplices were arrested, the singer reportedly fled and has since gone into hiding.
Odutola revealed that despite multiple invitations to appear at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Abeokuta, Portable ignored them without providing any legal representation. As a result, a court order has been obtained to officially declare him wanted.
The police have urged the public to provide any information leading to his arrest and warned that anyone found aiding or harboring him will face legal consequences.
This development follows the recent arraignment of nine of Portable’s associates at a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, on charges of felony, assault, possession of weapons, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. They all pleaded not guilty.
