The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to the recent kidnapping of Folashade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant-Inspector General (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu.
Following the directive of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to track down the fleeing culprits, operatives of the Lagos State CP Special Squad apprehended 27-year-old Agbojule Smart and 30-year-old Keleke Michael in the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2025, as they attempted to leave Lagos.
A statement from the Force Headquarters confirmed their arrest, revealing that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to being part of a four-member kidnapping gang. The police had previously neutralized two other members of the group in a gun battle while attempting to rescue Mrs. Odumosu.
Recovered from the suspects were ₦2,250,000, believed to be part of the ransom payment, two locally made rifles, and 11 live cartridges.
Commending the operatives for their swift action, the IGP urged them to maintain their high standards in combating crime, reiterating the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring public safety and security.
“The Force remains dedicated to minimizing crime and fostering peace across the nation,” the statement added.
Mrs. Odumosu was rescued earlier this week after police engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gunfight, eliminating two suspects in the process.
