The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy, Solomon Ibiwoye, for possessing a firearm in the Ebute-Ero area of the state.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, commending residents who noticed the teenager with the weapon and alerted officers from Ebute-Ero Police Division.
“Officers searched his residence and recovered a locally made gun along with an unused cartridge,” Hundeyin said. “Investigations are ongoing, but this represents one less illegal firearm on our streets.”
The police praised the community’s vigilance and reminded citizens to always report suspicious activities, using the slogan: “See something, say something.”
Authorities did not disclose how the teenager obtained the weapon or what he intended to do with it, but confirmed the case remains under investigation.
