Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has stated that the recent violent attacks in parts of the state are the result of coordinated criminal activity rather than conflicts between farmers and herders.
Speaking at the “Plateau Experience” Fashion and Arts Exhibition in Abuja, Mutfwang emphasized that the violence is orchestrated by individuals seeking to destabilize the state.
The governor’s remarks follow an April 2 attack in Manguno, Daffo, and Josho communities of Bokkos Local Government Area, where gunmen killed multiple people and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
Mutfwang assured residents that the government and security agencies have implemented measures to prevent further attacks.
“We considered canceling this event due to the security situation, but we refused to let criminals dictate our state’s narrative,” he said. “This is not a farmer-herder issue—it is organized crime by those who thrive in chaos.”
He vowed that the perpetrators would be defeated, urging citizens to remain resilient.
The governor also praised the exhibition for showcasing Plateau’s tourism and economic potential.
Chuwang Pwajok, General Manager of the Plateau Tourism Board, highlighted the state’s untapped natural and mineral resources. Meanwhile, event organizer Christabel Bentu commended Mutfwang’s administration for supporting tourism and economic development.
