The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially suspended former Senator Dino Melaye from the party.
This decision was made by the party’s executive committee in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, following Melaye’s failure to respond to a summons.
The suspension stems from allegations of anti-party activities and misconduct. During a meeting held on Friday, September 13, 2024, to discuss the findings of a disciplinary committee investigating Melaye, the Ward party executive committee reached the resolution to suspend him.
The resolution, signed by Ward Chairman Abayomi Osamika and Secretary Yodson Dayo, stated, “Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party and his continued membership is no longer tenable.”
The statement further declared, “Therefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective immediately.” The action is in accordance with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which allows Ward party executives to discipline errant members.
