Nigerian pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, has voluntarily reported to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for questioning. This comes after he initially failed to honor a police invitation issued on Monday, January 5, 2026.

According to police sources, Pastor Okafor presented himself at the SCID following intervention by “highly placed persons” who warned him about the serious consequences of ignoring a lawful police summons. His earlier defiance stemmed from an ongoing investigation involving his estranged lover, actress Doris Ogalla, which is being handled by the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2 Command.

Okafor reportedly believed he could disregard invitations from other police units since a case he initiated was already active at the zonal level.

A senior police officer stated that Okafor’s statement was taken but he was not detained as no formal complainant had yet come forward in the SCID’s parallel investigation. The officer explained that the Lagos State Police Command would “stand down” its probe to allow the Zone 2 Command to conclude its investigation, where there is an existing complainant and suspect.

However, the police emphasized that their offer for other alleged victims to come forward with protection remains open, and they are not dismissing the case.

The controversy surrounding Pastor Okafor erupted after a wave of allegations from multiple women, including Doris Ogalla, his daughter, former partners, and church members.

The allegations include sexual impropriety, abuse of authority, and other serious claims. Following public outrage and an order from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police for a probe, Okafor publicly admitted to some of the allegations, apologized to his congregation, and stepped aside as senior pastor after marrying a new wife in mid-December.
