In a recent and highly charged exchange, famous Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has publicly responded to his twin brother Paul Okoye, a.k.a Rudeboy, following statements made during a recent interview about their second split as the iconic music duo, P-Square.

Paul Okoye, in the interview, claimed to have written the majority of their songs and even accused Peter of involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against him. In response, Peter penned an open letter addressing these claims, making it clear that the narrative Rudeboy presented was one-sided and misleading.

“My dear brother Paul, just like I have told you several times, I am not in any competition with you or anybody else,” Peter began. “However, seeing you grant countless interviews where you constantly discredit my efforts in the group that we both created and built together really speaks volumes.”

Peter specifically refuted Rudeboy’s claim of writing 99% of P-Square’s songs, pointing out that hits like “Ejeajo,” “Get-Squared,” “Bizzy Body,” “Personally,” “Roll It,” “Temptation,” and several others were the product of their combined efforts. “You never acknowledged the other songs… Were these songs also considered failures as well?” he asked rhetorically.

The letter also highlighted the unity that once defined P-Square, stating, “What made us special was the magic that came from our combined effort – us two! P-Square was a force, and the fans fell in love with P-Square because of our uniqueness and unity.”

Peter also took the opportunity to express his disappointment in the ongoing conflict, emphasizing that the constant public disputes and disrespect have not only hurt their relationship but also disappointed their fans. “You have disrespected my wife, disrespected my family, disrespected my talent, disrespected my ideas… Now, it feels like you have taken it even further by trying so hard to turn the fans against me by making them believe I’m jealous of you,” he wrote.

The letter concluded with a promise from Peter to address the EFCC matter, urging for peace and allowing him to focus on his music. “I hope you are happy now. I genuinely wish you nothing but the best, bro!… Please allow me to focus and do my music in peace.”

The ongoing rift between the Okoye brothers, once Africa’s most celebrated music duo, continues to draw public attention as fans hope for reconciliation.
