Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command successfully rescued an Egyptian national who was abducted on the morning of Monday, September 8, 2025, in the Alomaja area of Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan.
The police spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, announced the rescue in a statement on Tuesday, September 9.
The rescue operation was executed within 24 hours of the abduction, demonstrating the effectiveness and dedication of the police officers and inter-agency collaboration.
Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Femi Haruna, the operation involved a coordinated effort among officers from the 4 PMF Ibadan, command intelligence and tactical operatives, local vigilantes, and collaboration with the Ogun State Police Command.
Through careful planning, intelligence gathering, and swift action, the security teams successfully located and rescued the abducted Egyptian after an extensive search of forested and border areas between Ogun and Oyo States.
The victim was found safe and no ransom payment was made. After the rescue, the person received necessary medical attention at the Police Hospital in Eleyele, Ibadan, and arrangements were made for reunification with his family.
The Oyo State Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with security agencies.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining peace across Oyo State.
