
The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has officially presented the staff of office to the newly appointed Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akwem Owoade.
The ceremony took place on Monday morning at the Oyo State Executive Chamber, Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan. It was attended by dignitaries, chiefs, and residents of Oyo town, who accompanied the new monarch in celebration.
During the event, Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency in the selection process of traditional rulers. He also issued a stern warning, stating that any chiefs found to have engaged in corrupt practices or collected money during the selection process would face prosecution.
Oba Owoade’s appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Alaafin throne, a position of immense cultural and historical significance in Oyo State and Yoruba land.
