The death of Teejay, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Bumpa, has sparked outrage and renewed conversations about justice and the state of emergency healthcare in Nigeria.

Teejay was reportedly involved in an accident when a car, allegedly driven by Biola Adams-Odutayo, hit his motorcycle. Witnesses claim she was driving against traffic (one-way) and refused to assist him after the crash, allegedly stating that she did not want blood to stain her car. Instead, she remained in her vehicle, making a phone call, while Teejay lay on the ground, struggling to breathe.

Bystanders rushed him to two hospitals, both of which allegedly refused to admit him. Frustrated, they returned and forced Adams-Odutayo to accompany them in her car, believing her presence might compel a hospital to accept him. This strategy worked, but by the time Teejay received medical attention, it was too late, he died shortly after being admitted.

Public anger has intensified following reports that the police chose to charge Adams-Odutayo with reckless driving rather than manslaughter. She was granted bail for ₦1 million and has since allegedly fled.

A petition on Change.org is demanding justice for Teejay, though skepticism remains over whether authorities will act.
