The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) Chairman, Hashim Abioye, has alleged that operatives of the Nigeria Police Force arrested commission staff on election duty across the state.

In a statement released via OSSIEC’s official X page on Saturday, Abioye expressed concerns over the disruption, stating that police officers had sealed the commission’s headquarters in Osogbo, where accreditation materials were stored.

While acknowledging the resilience of voters, he apologized for the commission’s inability to provide accreditation materials, attributing the delay to police actions.

“For the units where materials didn’t arrive early, it was due to the police arresting officials conveying them. However, new materials have been deployed, and voting is now ongoing,” Abioye stated.
