Ooni of Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and his queen, Ashley Folashade, have celebrated the arrival of a new prince. The joyous news was shared by Oba Ogunwusi on the X platform on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Ogunwusi expressed his gratitude, stating, “To God be the glory great things He has done. Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and Olori Folashade, who today birthed a Prince from the mother side of Ooni Adagba Royal Compound of Lafogido Ruling House and father side of Ooni Agbedegbede Royal Compound of Giesi Ruling House combined to the Royal throne of Oduduwa. Mother and child are doing well to the glory of God Almighty and in line with the spirits of our ancestors.”

This new addition follows the birth of Prince Tadenikawo, born to the Ooni’s previous queen, Olori Naomi, before their separation. Additionally, Olori Tobi Philips, another of the Ooni’s wives, gave birth to twins on March 16, 2024.

Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ọjájá II) CFR, born October 17, 1974, is the 51st and current Ooni of Ife. He is the traditional ruler and monarch of the Yoruba kingdom of Ile-Ife, having ascended to the throne following the passing of Oba Okunade Sijuwade in August 2015. The Ooni’s leadership is celebrated for its efforts in preserving Yoruba culture and traditions, maintaining a revered status in Nigeria.
