Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has stated that former Governor Nasir El-Rufai has no power to determine the outcome of the 2027 elections, emphasizing that only God will decide who emerges victorious.
Mamman Lagos made this declaration while criticizing recent comments by El-Rufai regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State. He warned the former governor to steer clear of the state’s political affairs, asserting that the people, not any individual, will decide the next leaders.
Speaking to journalists, Mamman Lagos defended Governor Uba Sani’s leadership, highlighting his efforts in reversing policies from the previous administration that were perceived as unfavorable to the people. He noted that Governor Sani had restored confiscated properties, reversed high tuition fees, and reinstated deposed traditional rulers.
“The governor has surpassed expectations, even among the opposition, by uniting the people and restoring Kaduna’s lost glory,” he stated. “His administration has brought massive infrastructural development across all three senatorial zones, dispelling the notion that the government favors only a particular segment of the state.”
The commissioner urged political actors to refrain from making inflammatory statements, insisting that no single individual holds the key to political success in the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, all 255 local government councilors in Kaduna State have declared their endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for second terms in 2027. Speaking on their behalf, Muhammad Sani Badiko praised Governor Sani’s achievements, particularly in rural development, economic recovery, education, and healthcare.
“We score the governor high for his developmental strides,” Badiko said. “We will mobilize grassroots support for his re-election in 2027 and urge all political actors to wait until after 2031 before seeking leadership positions.”
The endorsement signals strong backing for the current administration ahead of the next electoral cycle.
