Ondo State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, expressed confidence in emerging victorious in the ongoing gubernatorial election.
Speaking with journalists after casting his vote at Polling Unit 5, Ward 4 in Obenla community, Ilaje Local Government Area, the governor highlighted his extensive campaign and the connection he built with voters across the state.
“I am here at Obenla community at Unit 05. It has been calm and peaceful. The turnout is encouraging, and I expect the same situation at other locations,” Aiyedatiwa said. “We are peaceful in Ondo, and I believe the election will be credible. The citizens are law-abiding.”
The governor commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its preparation and urged voters to actively participate in the democratic process. “I urge the people to go out and vote. With what we have done in the last 10 months, I believe voters know who they want,” he added.
Reflecting on his campaign efforts, Aiyedatiwa claimed to have covered the entire state, engaging directly with the people. “I felt the people, I listened to them, and they were excited at my appearance. I believe they will translate that love into votes today,” he said confidently.
INEC officials and materials were reported to have arrived early at most polling units, with stakeholders praising the smooth start to the election. Observers are hopeful that the process will remain peaceful and transparent across Ondo’s 18 local government areas.
As voting continues, all eyes remain on the outcome of this highly contested election.
