A Muslim cleric in Ondo State, Nigeria, Alhaji Abdulkareem Adedokun, has publicly placed a curse on the cultists responsible for the deaths of his wife, Temitope, and son, Abdul Malik, in Owo on January 6, 2025. The tragic incident occurred amid a violent cult war that also claimed the life of APC chieftain, Fisayo Oladipo, along with two others.
Speaking out for the first time since the killings, Imam Adedokun revealed that his wife was attacked at her shop during the chaos. What hurt him most, however, was the exploitation of his family’s loss by politicians who politicized the tragedy despite knowing that no members of the Adedokun family had been involved in cult activities.
The cleric invoked the name of his grandfather, Almustaph Adedeji Jika Anabi, the figure credited with introducing Islam to Owo and much of Ondo State. Adedokun’s curse was directed at the killers, their cult associates, and any individuals protecting them from security forces.
“I stand on this authority to curse the person who killed Temitope Adedokun and Abdul Malik Adedokun, all members of their cult gangs, their supporters—including politicians and traditional leaders—and those protecting them from security agents,” Adedokun declared. “From today, every child born into their families will die a mysterious death upon reaching the age of my little Abdul Malik, who was killed. This curse will remain until they can bring my little Abdul Malik back to life.”
The cleric’s vow to invoke a generational curse on the perpetrators has left the community in shock, further fueling tensions surrounding the tragic event.
