Nigerian singer Omah Lay has publicly accused a fellow artiste of stealing the concept for what was supposed to be his next album.

The accusation comes after Omah Lay shared his idea with the unnamed artiste, who allegedly released an album using the same concept.

Speaking on the Zach Sang Show, Omah Lay explained that he initially intended to create an entire album based on a new sound he developed. “My song ‘Holy Ghost’ is a new sound. I was going to make the whole album with the new sound but along the line, I changed my mind,” he said.

Omah Lay recounted how the other artiste approached him for a collaboration, which led to the exchange of ideas. However, five months later, the artist released an album mirroring the concept Omah Lay had shared. “He came to me and I accepted for us to collaborate. Of course, it’s an artist that I love. And I told him where I’m headed with the sound. Five months later, he put out an album with exactly all the same sound that I shared with him.”

The incident forced Omah Lay to re-record his album, which he now claims will be “the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.” Despite the setback, Omah Lay remains confident in his work and looks forward to releasing his reworked project.
