Hannah Reuben is set to lead Nigeria’s last attempt to secure a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics as she competes in the women’s freestyle wrestling 76kg category today.
Reuben will face Mongolia’s Davaanasan Enkh-Amar in the quarter-final, representing Nigeria’s final hope after 87 other athletes across 12 sports failed to reach the podium.
Despite high expectations for athletes like Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume, Favour Ofili, Blessing Oborodudu, and Odunayo Adekuroye, none were able to secure a medal in their respective events.
Reuben, ranked eighth globally and an African champion, also claimed gold at the 2023 World Military Wrestling Championships, making her a strong contender in her weight class.
