Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), has warned “political hacks” against using her name for propaganda.
This came after remarks allegedly attributed to her criticized Governor Alex Otti’s handling of the Enyimba Economic City project in Abia State.
The alleged comments suggested that Okonjo-Iweala disapproved of the Labour Party government’s approach to the project, accusing it of state-sponsored propaganda. However, Okonjo-Iweala took to X.com to clarify that the remarks were fake. She stated, “FAKE!! I have taken screenshots of a fake article purported to be written by me about Abia State and its Gov HE Alex Otti… I shall take action.”
Okonjo-Iweala emphasized that she would not tolerate the misuse of her name for political purposes and vowed to take appropriate action against those responsible.
