Former United States President, Barack Obama has thrown his full support behind Kamala Harris, stating that she is fully prepared to lead the United States as the next president.
Speaking at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, Obama made it clear that he believes the torch has been passed to Harris, whom he described as a tireless advocate for those in need.
“Kamala Harris is ready for the job. This is a person who has spent her life fighting for people who need a voice,” Obama told the energized crowd, which responded with chants of “Yes she can,” a callback to Obama’s own famous campaign slogan.
Obama also emphasized Harris’s commitment to the American people, saying, “She is someone who sees you and hears you and will get up every single day and fight for you.”
The convention, already buoyant with excitement, saw Obama’s endorsement as a pivotal moment, reinforcing the Democratic Party’s confidence in Harris as she prepares to face off against Donald Trump in the upcoming November election.
With Harris polling strongly and the party united, Democrats are optimistic about their chances to defeat Trump.
