Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has issued an urgent appeal following the disappearance of Dorcas Oseghale, a 300-level Chemistry student, last seen on the evening of August 6, 2025.
Dorcas, matriculation number CHM/2021/165, was reportedly going to buy food near the Students’ Village along Ede Road before losing contact with friends and family.
Her phone has been unreachable since that evening, raising significant concerns among her roommates and fellow students.
The university’s security unit, having monitored social media discussions about her disappearance, received formal reports on August 7, 2025, and quickly escalated the matter to the Osun State Police Command.
The Police have joined the search efforts, bringing professional and technical resources to bear in locating Dorcas.
OAU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire, commended the students for promptly reporting the incident and called on the police and all relevant security agencies to intensify their efforts to find the missing student.
The university urges anyone with information on Dorcas Oseghale’s whereabouts to immediately contact the nearest police station or the university security office to aid the ongoing investigation.
The entire OAU community remains hopeful and vigilant as authorities work tirelessly to bring Dorcas safely back home.
