The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has disciplined 24 corps members serving in Sokoto State for various acts of indiscipline, including absenteeism and abscondment from duty.

The affected members were sanctioned after they violated rules and regulations governing the mandatory one‑year national service programme. The NYSC authorities said the measures were taken to maintain discipline and uphold the integrity of the scheme.

Officials explained that some of the corps members failed to report for duty regularly, while others left their places of primary assignment without proper clearance. These actions contravene NYSC guidelines and prompted the disciplinary actions.

Sanctions imposed include warnings, forfeiture of allowances, and other administrative measures deemed appropriate by the NYSC authorities. The officials reiterated that all corps members are expected to fulfil their responsibilities and contribute positively to their host communities.

The NYSC call for strict adherence to programme rules comes as part of efforts to ensure that participants uphold the values of service, discipline, and commitment throughout their service year.

Corps members are encouraged to abide by the regulations and make the most of the opportunities presented during their national service.
