The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced a 15% increase in tariffs, marking the first adjustment in over three decades.

NPA Managing Director, Abubakar Dantsoho, disclosed this on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Lagos during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting on the approved tariff hike. He was represented by the Executive Director of Marine and Operations, Olalekan Badmus.

Dantsoho stated that despite significant economic changes—including fluctuations in exchange rates, rising wages, increased fuel and lubricant costs, and inflation—the agency had maintained its tariff structure for 32 years.

The new tariff structure is expected to impact port operations, with stakeholders anticipating both challenges and benefits. The NPA has assured port users that the adjustment aims to enhance efficiency and service delivery across Nigerian ports.
