In a significant development, Kachalla Sharme, a notorious bandit commander, was killed during a violent confrontation between rival gangs in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

The clash occurred in Hambakko, within the Rijana and Kaso Forests, spanning Kachia and parts of Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas.

According to Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sharme’s death marks a pivotal victory in the ongoing fight against banditry in the region. “After diligent follow-up operations and intelligence gathering, it can be reported that the notorious bandit commander Kachalla Tukur Sharme, and other bandits, have been killed in a fratricidal clash,” Aruwan stated.

The incident, which took place on Saturday, resulted in the deaths of Sharme and two other bandits, with five more sustaining life-threatening injuries. Aruwan highlighted Sharme’s extensive criminal history, including his role in the 2021 kidnapping of 121 students from Bethel Baptist High School in Kujama.

Aruwan cautioned residents against aiding suspicious individuals seeking medical treatment for gunshot wounds, urging them to report such cases to security forces. “Residents are warned not to render any assistance to suspicious persons seeking treatment for gun wounds,” he advised.

Sharme’s demise is viewed as a crucial step in reducing the threat of banditry in Kaduna and neighboring states.
