Princess Märtha Louise of Norway has married American self-styled shaman Durek Verrett in a private wedding ceremony in Geiranger, Western Norway.
The event, held at a hotel on Saturday, included two days of celebrations but was largely shielded from public view, with exclusive rights sold to Hello! Magazine. Netflix also documented the occasion, causing controversy among local media outlets who were mostly excluded.
The princess’s parents, King Harald and Queen Sonja, attended the wedding, along with members of Norway’s royal family and other European royals. Around 350 guests were present, but there was little evidence of any of Verrett’s rumored American celebrity friends in attendance, except for Cynthia Bailey from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
The couple’s relationship, which began in 2022, has sparked debate in Norway, especially given the princess’s departure from traditional royal duties and her decision to engage in spiritual and commercial activities that have been criticized for leveraging her royal status. Princess Märtha Louise, known for her spiritual beliefs and clairvoyant claims, defended her choices in a BBC interview, highlighting that her path differs from conventional royal expectations.
