Nollywood actress and producer Sharon Okpamen has tragically passed away, just one month after welcoming her second child. The sad news was confirmed on Sunday by a source close to the family, Jackreece Daniel, who shared on Facebook, “Nollywood actress and producer has passed on. She was in a coma after childbirth and couldn’t make it alive.”
Adding to the confirmations, a statement from the Great Edos platform on Facebook read, “Sharon Okpamen has unfortunately passed on. It’s a sad day for Nollywood and the Edo entertainment scene.”
Sharon, who was a filmmaker, actress, entrepreneur, and humanitarian, announced the birth of her second child, Osarhuese, on July 31 through her Facebook page, where she joyfully declared, “To God be the glory. Osarhuese is here.” Tragically, complications after childbirth led to her falling into a coma, from which she never recovered.
When reached for comment, Chief Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), noted that Sharon was not a member of the guild, despite her significant contributions to the entertainment industry.
Sharon Okpamen, who hailed from Edo State, leaves behind a legacy in Nollywood as a talented actress and dedicated filmmaker. Her untimely death marks a significant loss for both the Nigerian film industry and the Edo entertainment community.
