The heads of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) have resigned following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu. This development comes after Aliko Dangote accused NMDPRA’s Farouk Ahmed and NUPRC’s Gbenga Komolafe of corruption.

Dangote alleged that Ahmed misused $5 million in company funds for personal expenses in Switzerland. The two officials resigned after meeting with President Tinubu, who has nominated Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as the new CEOs of NUPRC and NMDPRA, respectively.

Eyesan, an Economics graduate from the University of Benin, brings 33 years of experience from NNPC. Mohammed, with a Chemical Engineering background from Ahmadu Bello University, previously served as Managing Director of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company. Their appointments reflect the government’s effort to ensure stability in the petroleum sector.
