Wahid Enitan Oshodi, a prominent Nigerian sports administrator, has been elected as the new president of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF).
Oshodi, a former Lagos State Sports Commissioner and ex-president of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), was elected unopposed during the 2024 ATTF Annual General Meeting held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on October 15, 2024.
Oshodi succeeds Egypt’s Khaled El-Salhy as the head of the continental body, making history as the first Nigerian to hold this prestigious position. He is also currently the only Nigerian presiding over a continental sports federation.
Speaking on his new role, Oshodi expressed his gratitude and commitment to the growth of table tennis across Africa. “I am deeply honored to have been entrusted with this responsibility, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance the sport on the continent,” he said.
Oshodi brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the president of the NTTF, where he led significant initiatives aimed at developing table tennis in Nigeria. His election marks a new chapter in African table tennis, as he takes over from El-Salhy, who has held the position for several years.
