Trump party in Nigeria - 1

A group of Donald Trump supporters in Jigawa State, Northwest Nigeria, have marked his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States with a celebratory gathering and a newly composed tribute song in his honor.

In a video obtained by Intel Region, the group, led by Hausa musicians Jamilu Majiya and Adams, praised Trump as a symbol of strength and resilience. They noted that his leadership style resonates with many Nigerians, particularly in the north.

The song, performed in both Hausa and English, celebrates Trump’s boldness and commitment to his values. One of the lyrics states, “God chose you, made you, and protected you. Always take care of your supporters.”

Jamilu Majiya, one of the singers, previously gained attention for actively campaigning for Trump before the U.S. presidential election. The music video features children waving American flags and wearing campaign T-shirts with Trump’s name.

Trump, who served as the 45th U.S. president from 2017 to 2021, secured a dramatic return to office on November 6, 2024, after surpassing the 270 electoral vote threshold. He defeated former Vice President Kamala Harris, who secured 219 electoral votes in the closely contested race.

On January 20, 2025, Trump was sworn in as the 47th U.S. president, with JD Vance taking the oath as vice president, administered by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. In his inaugural address, Trump declared, “The golden age of America starts now.”

He vowed to end what he called the “weaponization” of the Justice Department, pledging to restore balance to the country’s legal system.

The celebration in Jigawa sparked debate among Nigerians, with some questioning its significance to Nigeria’s political and economic landscape.

On social media platform X, a user, @abdullahimusa71, defended the celebration, writing, “This shows that Northerners know what they are doing. Everyone knows @realDonaldTrump is a serious president who moves the U.S. forward, and this reflects the dreams these Jigawa people have for Nigeria.”

Others were more critical, with @Nnaemek24295759 commenting, “That’s what they use to keep them busy so they can’t think for themselves. Once there’s rice at the event, their problem is solved.”

Some analysts suggest that Trump’s alignment with Russia and his support for leaders in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger have influenced admiration for him in parts of northern Nigeria.

Despite the divided opinions, the Jigawa celebration highlights the global impact of Trump’s political persona and his growing influence beyond U.S. borders.
