A Nigerian pilgrim from Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Abba Limawa, has returned $800, 10,500 Russian rubles, and 690 Saudi Riyals he found in Makkah. Limawa discovered the money inside a waist bag while heading to pray at Masjid Haram.
Limawa handed the currencies over to the Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Jalal Arabi, during a post-Arafat conference on Wednesday in Makkah. Initially uncertain, Limawa decided to retrieve the bag, suspecting it might belong to a Nigerian pilgrim. After verifying it didn’t contain any Nigerian currency, he reported it to an official from the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Arabi commended Limawa for his honesty and for positively representing Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of Limawa’s actions, particularly in an international context.
During the conference, Arabi also provided updates on the 2025 Hajj operations and urged stakeholders to prepare for the upcoming Hajj arrangements.
