
A Nigerian, Ajao Samson has officially been recognized by the Guinness World Record (GWR) as the holder of the longest marathon reading aloud title.
The announcement, which marks a significant achievement in literacy advocacy, was made by Ajao on his Facebook page on Friday, August 23, 2024.
In his post, Ajao expressed his deep gratitude, stating, “I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude to God, my family, friends, and an indefatigable team for making the big dream come to reality.” He added, “Today, I was confirmed as the new world record title holder for the longest marathon reading aloud by the Guinness World Record. I am glad to be an advocate for literacy development.”
Ajao’s journey to this remarkable achievement began in May 2024, when he embarked on a 214-hour marathon reading session. The record attempt, which was closely followed by many, has now been validated by the Guinness World Record, solidifying his place in history.
Ajao, who hails from Iwo town and is a former student union president of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has been praised for his dedication to promoting literacy. His accomplishment is seen as an inspiration to many, particularly in the field of education and literacy development.
