Benue-born Nigerian comedian and founder of Laff International Entertainment Empire, Dr. Laff Albert, has reached 15 hours in his ambitious 50-hour stand-up comedy marathon.

The event, which began on February 14 at Banex Mall in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, is Dr. Laff’s official attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the Longest Stand-Up Comedy Show by an Individual.

Providing updates on Instagram, he shared, “We’re 15 hours in and going strong! Currently in third place for the longest stand-up comedy show ever! Who’s still laughing with us? Stay connected to keep us fueled for the next 35 hours.”

Before the event, Dr. Laff expressed his excitement on Facebook, stating, “We have arranged everything humanely needed to make the event a success. We now hand it over to God. A blast of a lifetime is what is in the vision we saw.”

Beyond breaking a record, Dr. Laff’s comedy marathon aims to raise $1 million for Talent City Naija, a proposed hub designed to nurture young Nigerian creatives. He described the initiative as a space for talented individuals to live, work, and showcase their skills on a global stage.

“The city will provide resources, tools, and platforms for young talents to fully explore their potential while earning sustainable incomes. It’s my way of giving back to society,” he said.

Dr. Laff emphasized his intense preparation for the challenge, which included months of joke alignment, endurance training, and mental conditioning.

The current Guinness World Record for the longest stand-up comedy show by an individual stands at 40 hours and 8 minutes, set by American comedian David Scott, aka The Midnight Swinger, in 2013. In 2016, Nigerian comedian Gandoki reportedly completed a 48-hour comedy marathon, though the claim was not officially verified by GWR.
