
The U.S. Department of State – Bureau of Consular Affairs has revealed a list of countries with the highest U.S. visa rejection rates. Nigeria ranks high on the list with a 29% rejection rate, placing it among nations facing significant hurdles for U.S. entry.
According to the report, North Korea and Micronesia hold the highest rejection rates at 100%, with Monaco and Liechtenstein boasting a 0% rejection rate. Other countries with low rejection rates include Israel (3%), the United Arab Emirates (4%), and Saudi Arabia (5%).
“Nigerian applicants face a challenging landscape, with nearly one in three visa requests being denied,” said a U.S. Department of State official. This statistic highlights the difficulties faced by Nigerians seeking entry into the U.S. for various purposes such as business, tourism, or education.
Countries like Ukraine (34%), Russia (39%), and Pakistan (41%) also rank alongside Nigeria, indicating that these nations struggle with visa approval. Canada, often viewed as a close U.S. ally, surprisingly has a rejection rate of 52%. Meanwhile, Liberia and North Korea suffer the most, with rejection rates of 78% and 100%, respectively.
