A shocking incident has occurred in Kaduna State, Nigeria, where a newlywed woman, Habiba Ibrahim, has been arrested for cutting off her husband’s genitals while he was asleep. The victim, Salisu Idris, 40, a commercial motorcycle rider, is currently battling for his life in the hospital.
According to Idris, the attack occurred on May 26, shortly after he returned from early morning prayers and lay down to rest. His wife suddenly attacked him with a sharp knife, almost severing his genitals. Neighbors rescued him after hearing his screams.
The couple had been married for only four months, and Idris claimed they had no prior misunderstandings. He is now hesitant to remarry due to the trauma.
Idris’ mother, Rabi Salisu, expressed concern for her son’s condition and revealed that his wife’s parents are willing to cover his medical expenses.
The incident has sparked concerns about gender-based violence and the need for increased support for victims of domestic abuse. The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, could not be reached for comment.
This disturbing incident highlights the importance of addressing relationship conflicts and seeking help before situations escalate into violence.
