Popular media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, known as Nedu Wazobia, has issued a formal pre-action notice to social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over alleged defamatory statements made on his platforms.
The notice, dated Tuesday, February 24, 2025, was sent by Nedu’s legal representatives, acting on behalf of both Nedu and Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd. The lawyers referenced a video posted by VDM on February 19, 2025, which they described as containing “defamatory, false, and disparaging attacks” against their clients.
According to the notice, the YouTube video, titled “How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians,” was filled with “incessant lies.” The lawyers also pointed out that VDM intentionally spelled fraud as “fr@vd” in an attempt to bypass legal consequences.
The statement further clarified that allegations involving the Metropolitan School of Business and Management UK (MSBM) had already been investigated, with authorities finding no substantial proof to support the claims. They accused VDM of persistently publishing defamatory content against Nedu, including allegations that he used musicians Timaya and Kcee to “institute fraud.”
The legal team also emphasized that the Nedu Foundation was established to raise funds for students seeking admission to MSBM, a process that was not directly linked to Nedu. They stated that Nedu received no financial compensation for his role in promoting the charity or organizing related events.
The notice demands that VDM:
1. Retract all defamatory videos within 24 hours.
2. Issue a public apology on all his social media platforms.
3. Pay ₦500 million in damages for harm done to Nedu’s reputation.
Failure to comply, the notice warns, will lead to legal action against VDM.
This development comes amid increasing legal battles involving VDM, including a recent court order mandating him to retract defamatory posts against human rights lawyer Femi Falana and musician Falz.
