
The Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Communications (IIC), an esteemed global body focused on advancing telecommunications and media industries.
Dr. Maida has played a pivotal role in enhancing Nigeria’s telecommunications landscape, promoting better connectivity, innovation, and inclusivity under his leadership. His appointment to the IIC board positions him to contribute his vast expertise to shaping global telecom and media policies.
Before his current role at the NCC, Dr. Maida served as Executive Director of Technology and Operations at the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems PLC (NIBSS), where he spearheaded the modernization of Nigeria’s digital payment systems. He also boasts an impressive career with global tech firms like British Telecom, Cisco Systems, and EE Ltd, alongside his contributions to small-cell technology innovation at UbiquiSys Ltd.
Dr. Maida’s academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, a Master’s in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from Cambridge Judge Business School.
