The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has established a minimum legal service fee of N50,000 for the incorporation of business and company names, with charges ranging up to N500,000, depending on the experience level of the legal practitioner.
According to the new remuneration structure, legal practitioners with nine years or less of post-qualification experience will charge a minimum of N50,000 in state band 1, while their counterparts in state bands 2 and 3 are set at N80,000 and N100,000, respectively.
For lawyers with 13 years or more of experience, the NBA has mandated higher fees: N100,000, N150,000, and N200,000 for state bands 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) will charge the highest rates, with fees fixed at N300,000, N400,000, and N500,000 for the three state bands.
The NBA stated that this decision aims to standardize legal fees, ensure fair compensation for lawyers, and prevent underpricing within the profession.
