In a recent counter-terrorism operation, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) air component of Operation Hadin Kai conducted successful airstrikes against the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Lake Chad area.

According to Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF spokesperson, these strikes, carried out on November 7, 2024, targeted ISWAP fighters and commanders in the Southern Tumbuns at Arina Woje.

NAF launched the attacks after receiving intelligence on ISWAP’s movement in the Lake Chad Basin, as militants prepared for coordinated assaults in the region. Using precise air raids, NAF fighter jets struck ISWAP’s encampments, eliminating high-value commanders and weakening enemy positions. This operation follows an earlier airstrike on October 30, 2024, which reportedly neutralized 50 ISWAP militants, including a key commander, Qaid Bashir Dauda.
