During a ceremony at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, President Bola Tinubu unveiled the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal Fund, honoring Nigeria’s military personnel and their contributions to national security.

In his remarks, President Tinubu expressed profound gratitude to the Armed Forces, recognizing them as the nation’s primary line of defense. He commended their recent achievements in tackling security threats, underscoring the vital role of security in promoting peace and development across the country. “The armed forces have shown unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity, stability, and progress,” he stated.

In a show of support for the military, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, announced a donation of N500 million on behalf of the Executive arm of government. Senate President Godswill Akpabio also contributed with a N200 million donation representing the National Assembly. Additionally, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa pledged N50 million on behalf of the Service Chiefs, while Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun also extended his support.
