Up-and-coming Nigerian artist Moshood Abdulmuiz, professionally known as Muyeez, has announced his decision to terminate his contract with Dapper Music & Entertainment Limited.

In a statement posted on his Instagram account on Wednesday, Muyeez, a protégé of popular singer Seyi Vibez, expressed his dissatisfaction with the record label, alleging exploitation and neglect. He described his experience as a disheartening journey that turned his aspirations into a “nightmare.”

“I am breaking my silence to share the painful truth about my journey as an artist under Dapper Music & Entertainment Limited. What should have been a dream come true turned into a nightmare of exploitation, neglect, and betrayal. I can no longer stay silent while my hard work and dedication are taken for granted,” Muyeez wrote.

The artist, who claims to have released three chart-topping extended plays (EPs) within a month, alleged that he had not received any royalty payments for his work. “Despite this success, I have not received a single royalty payment for my efforts. My passion and hard work were met with indifference, leaving me to wonder if my voice truly mattered,” he added.

Muyeez further revealed that he was a minor when he signed the contract, trusting the label to guide his career. However, he said he was instead “burdened with impossible demands.”

The announcement comes on the heels of a similar decision by fellow Dapper Music signee Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, who also terminated his contract with the label, citing financial mismanagement, lack of transparency, and exploitative agreements.

This development has raised concerns over the treatment of young artists in the Nigerian music industry and the prevalence of exploitative practices within some record labels.

Neither Dapper Music nor Seyi Vibez has publicly responded to these allegations at the time of this report.
