At a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, January 15, 2025,
the late singer Mohbad’s mother, Mrs. Abosede Aloba, and actor Yomi Fabiyi clashed over allegations surrounding the singer’s untimely death. Fabiyi claimed that Adura Aloba, Mohbad’s younger brother, contacted him via Instagram, alleging he had knowledge of what led to Mohbad’s death.
Mrs. Aloba denied the allegations, fiercely defending her son. “They killed Mohbad, and now they want to implicate Adura. My son knows nothing about his brother’s death,” she said passionately during the conference. She further alleged that another individual, Damola, misused Adura’s phone to communicate with Fabiyi, which has led to a series of misunderstandings.
Fabiyi, however, stood by his claim, stating that he was focused on the content of the message rather than its sender. “It was Adura’s account that sent me the message. If this wasn’t him, someone needs to clarify that,” Fabiyi responded.
The controversy adds to the emotional weight surrounding the death of Mohbad, who passed away in September 2023 at the age of 26. His death remains under investigation, with initial reports involving a nurse who administered an unlicensed tetanus vaccine.
